Hong Kong Academy Scholarship and Financial Aid Program
Selection Criteria:
Students at HKA are nurtured into becoming intellectually curious, critically thinking, ethically minded and self-assured individuals who achieve their full potential as responsible members of the global community.
Hong Kong Academy invites applications to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Program from students who meet the following criteria.
Selection Criteria A: Application Requirements
• Student is a permanent resident of Hong Kong. Applications are open to existing and new families at HKA who are permanent residents.
• Student meets the normal criteria for admission to HKA, including demonstrating a reasonable proficiency in English appropriate to year level.
• Candidate’s family shows an understanding of, and commitment to, HKA’s inquiry-based philosophy of education.
• Student provides evidence of ongoing strengths, qualities, or skills in academics, arts or community service.
• Candidate meets the financial aid criteria.
• Student demonstrates a range of personal qualities appropriate to year level.
• Candidate will be entering Y3 through Y9 (P4 through F4) during the 2008-2009 school year.
Selection Criteria B: Personal Qualities
HKA seeks applications from students who are:
• Open minded and willing to take on the challenges of working in an inquiry-based school.
• Curious about the world, and willing to think about providing solutions to international issues.
• Principled and reflective about own actions and learning.
• Empathetic toward the needs of others and willing to engage in community service.
• Respectful and appreciative of others’ values and beliefs.
