The school requires TWO full calendar month’s written notice of withdrawal or TWO full calendar month’s tuition in lieu of such notice.
Notices received after the first day of a month will be considered as notices for the following month with no pro-rata refund.
Notes on Fees:
1. Application fee – The application fee is non-refundable upon payment. Paid on application
for a place in the school.
2. Capital levy – The capital levy is used to pay for capital improvements such as equipment
purchase, enhancements to the school environment and facilities. This is an annual fee and non-refundable upon payment. For new students this fee must be paid on acceptance to
secure a place for the academic year. This fee is payable in full amount regardless of date of admission. For returning students this must be paid by 15 April of each year to
secure a school place for the following year.
3. Scholarship fee – The scholarship fees will be used to subsidize tuition for low-income
families who meet the criteria to receive the scholarship. This is an annual fee and non-refundable upon payment. For new students this fee must be paid on acceptance to secure
a place for the academic year. This fee is payable in full amount regardless of date of admission. For returning students this must be paid by 15 April of each year to secure a
school place for the following year.
4. Transition Fund fee – This is a one-time and non-refundable fee for all entering
students. This fee is payable in full amount regardless of date of admission. The Fund will be used to finance the moving and refurbishing expenses to a new school site. This
move is anticipated to occur in the next 6-18 months. This fee must be paid on or before 15 April 2008 to secure a placefor the 2008/09 school year.
5. Middle School / High School Technology tuition fee – This fee is for Middle School / High
School Students (Year 6 to Year 9) only and must be paid by 1 June of each year. The fee is part of the F2 Laptop Program. Each Middle School /High School student will have
their own Apple laptop computer to take home and use in class. The fee will pay for the insurance, hardware maintenance and the capital cost for replacing the units when
needed. This is an annual fee and non-refundable upon payment. This fee is payable in full amount regardless of date of admission.
6. Tuition fees – This fees include books and learning materials but exclude costs of class
trips, student activities, uniforms, school bus etc. which will be charged separately. Students in Y3 to Y9 will be involved in extended overnight field trips which are an
integral part of the curriculum. The cost for school year 2007-08 ranged from $2,370 for Year 3 to $9,300 for Year 7/8. The tuition fees are payable on or before due dates. If
tuition fees are not paid by the due date, students may not be eligible to start.
7. Conditions of payments – Payments for any fees are made by cheque. Cheques should be
crossed and made payable to “Hong Kong Academy” and mailed directly to the school’s address or hand deliver to our school’s office. Overdue interest of 2% per month will be
charged against outstanding amount of invoice FOURTEEN (14) days from the invoice due date. If any incoming payment cheque bounces and is rejected when deposited to our school’s
bank account, a bank and administrative fee of $200 will be charged for each transaction.
