ACCREDITATIONS AND AFFILIATIONS

Hong Kong Academy is accredited by (WASC) The Western Association of Schools and College. It completes its first self-study in 2005 and was accredited for three years in May 2006.

Hong Kong Academy is authorized by the International Baccalaureate to implement the Primary Years Progrramme (PYP). It was first authorized in 2004 and in presently completing its reauthorization self-study. The school has recently applied for “candidate status” to implement the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and will in turn, with the addition of high school grades be applying to implement the Diploma Programme.

Hong Kong Academy is a member of Council of International Schools (CIS) and may in the future seek dual accreditation with WASC.

Hong Kong Academy is a provisional member of the European Council of Internationals Schools and expects to be granted full membership status in 2008.

Hong Kong is active member of the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools since 2004. The Association coordinates student activities programs and professional development programs for staff of member schools.

Hong Kong Academy has been a member of East Asia Regional Conference of Overseas Schools since 2004. EARCOS provides professional Development opportunities for Teacher and Administrator across the East Asia region.

Hong Kong Academy has entered into a partnership agreement with Lehigh University of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA to offer onsite Graduate courses in Hong Kong.

Xiao Xi
Throughout the school year the Administrative Team at Hong Kong Academy writes to the school community in the “Xiao Xi”. This is Administrative Communiqué which comes out approximately every two weeks and provides Andy, Virginia, and Merris an opportunity to share news and upcoming events as well as write about educational issues or research. It is available on the school website and directly on the school Intranet “FirstClass”.
